“Likes” on social media have both positive and negative aspects. For example, one of the dangers of placing value on “likes” is caring more about what other people think about you. When you start to care about what people think, you might start to change your thoughts and ideas to fit what is popular. In contrast, one of the rewards of placing value on “likes” is that you can see what more people believe, as posts that are “liked” more tend to gain more views.
Personally, I do not believe that people on social media are being used. Who can blame a company for taking advantage of an effective marketing strategy? Although when a celebrity social media account is for the sole purpose of promoting a product, then they are selling out and are using their fans for personal gain.
